Janine Tanzer: Resting Places Venezia Australis 2 April - 1 May 2005 A major touring exhibition prepared by Castlemaine Art Gallery & Historical Museum, and coinciding with the 15th Castlemaine State Festival. It brings together, from public and private collections, works by Australian artists inspired by their experiences of Venice. Oil paintings, watercolours, prints, drawings and photographs cover the period from 1990 to 2000 with a focus on the Edwardian, especially Streeton, but including work by artists working today. Janine Tanzer, Gold & Silversmith Resting Places 2 April - 1 May 2005 This series of works, Resting Places or Tombs, reflects the artists's interest in the mysteries of ancient societies. Fortress-like outer vessels hide and protect precious ornaments which prove to be more enduring than the departed they are intended to adorn.
