This exhibition celebrates over 40 years of textile art by one of Australia's leading embroiderers. Lesley Uren has devoted herself to her art since childhood. As well as pursuing it as a means of personal expression, she has been important as a teacher, both in the Embroiderers Guild and in technical education in schools and colleges. Having now retired as an educator, she continues to develop her skills and expression and to receive significant commissions. Her work includes a civic mural, church vestments, and large three-dimensional pieces representing native flora and fauna. The exhibition is a rare opportunity to see these works, dating from 1959 to 2003, loaned by private collectors and the artist. ![]() |
