The Museum has a wonderful collection of historical artworks, journals, photographs, costumes, and items specifically relating to the history of the Mount Alexander district. The exhibition Camp to City: Castlemaine and Mount Alexander District presents a rich and colourful history, including: the indigenous people; the goldrush and mining; Chinese on the goldfields; prominent early citizens; surrounding towns; the region's development; 20th century Castlemaine. A collection of decorative arts features glassware, silverware, porcelain and china, metal and enamel work. |
